Cativities
Many cats don't get the amount of exercise and attention they need. Here are some tips to introduce more activities into your cat's life for their health.
THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Get your cat outside. Many cats never get to do this and it is a vital part of their health and wellness to get fresh air, feel some sunshine, and the earth under their paws. It also gives them some great mental stimulation of many new sights, sounds, smells. Remember to do this in a safe way.
There are harnesses and leashes specially designed for cats. If trying this method, get your cat used to the harness and leash inside first. This will also help you make sure the harness is fitted properly and secure. Once they become accustomed to the leash and harness, then try walking them outside.
You can also use a rabbit enclosure, be sure that the top is covered, as a cat can jump out of puppy pen styles with an open top. Some cat owners also choose to attach an enclosure to a window that cats can go into to get some fresh air.
There are multiple ways of doing this. Always supervise your cat while they are outdoors. If your cat is sensitive to change, it may take a few outdoor sessions to allow them to get comfortable with it, but in the long run it allows for a happier and healthier cat.

"HUNT" FOR FOOD
You can take some of your cat's favorite freeze dried or dehydrated treats and hide them around the house or in a room in your house and allow you cat to find them. It gives great mental stimulation and also allows them to use their nose to sniff out the treats. It also allows cats to use a behavior that comes naturally to them.
There are also a variety of treat toys you can try. There are treat balls that drop treats as your cat nudges or rolls the ball. There are wobble toys that bob back and forth dropping out treats. There are also puzzle toys where your cat has to figure out how to get the treats out.

PLAYTIME
The best interaction is play. You can play with toys, cat lasers, luring with a toy on a rope, etc. It allows your cat both physical and mental stimulation, and also increases the bond of your relationship. You may even have a cat that can learn a couple tricks! You can get very creative in this area. The possibilities are endless.
CAT TUBE
You can provide your cat with things to watch outdoors, such as birds or squirrels. Add a bird or squirrel feeder within view from a window your cat can look out of. There are also bird feeders that suction to windows that allow very up close viewing. Some have a one way mirror, this may be beneficial if they realize your cat is watching on the other side!
Fish tanks can also provide something for your cat to watch, however, are much more work than a bird or squirrel feeder. Be sure that the top of your fish tank is covered, should you decided to start one.
ENRICHMENT AND EXPLORATION
Rotate toys for your cat. Leave out new things for your cat to explore, such as a paper grocery bag or box. You can hide treats within this objects to explore as well. Empty egg cartons work well as a place to hide treats. Empty water bottles work well too (remove plastic ring and cap). You can also invest in a cat condo for a place for them to explore, climb, hide, and jump on. Just be sure the things you are using are cat friendly and don't contain things like string or tape that can be harmful if swallowed.
